There are six ways that New Union Baptist Church receives members into its fellowship. If you are interested in church membership, please review these and if you have any further questions, please contact us at (423)775-0515 or email us at pastor@newunionbaptist.org. We would love to talk with you about joining our church fellowship.

  1. Through receiving Christ as Lord and Savior and making a public commitment of that fact during the invitation with baptism following at an appointed time.

  2. Those who have already been saved at a previous time, also come during the invitation upon their faith in Christ requesting baptism by immersion.

  3. Those who have been saved, baptized, and are members of another Baptist church, come by promise of letter from that church. They do not have to bring the letter with them. They present themselves during the invitation and are received under watchcare of the church. Upon receipt of their letter full membership status is granted.

  4. Those who have been saved and have belonged to other churches in which they were sprinkled, come as a Christian asking for baptism by immersion.

  5. Those who have been saved and belong to other denominations in which they were baptized by immersion, come by statement of the fact that they are a Christian and have been baptized and that they generaly understand our teachings and agree with them. The exception to this rule are those people who were trusting in water baptism for salvation rather than in Christ. Such people need to be scripturally baptized.

  6. People who have been saved and baptized by immersion in a Baptist church and have lost their membership as a result of the church being disbanded or taking the names off roll, also come by statement that they are Christians and have been immersed.
