What to Expect

We want your visit to New Union to be a blessing.

Welcome to New Union Baptist Church, where we want all our visitors to be blessed during their worhip and fellowship at our church. Visiting a new church can be an intimidating experience and we want to make sure you feel right at home. Here is some information to help you know what to expect when you visit New Union for the first time.

Clothing and Attire

Jesus provided us with the true example of living one’s life by the adage “the clothes don’t make the man.” He fellowshipped with the finest clad Pharisees and most wretched beggars alike. We strive to be no respecters of men – come as you can. On Sunday mornings, many will come in suits or Sunday dresses, while others will arrive in blue jeans and t-shirts.

Sunday evening tends to be a little more casual than the Sunday morning service, but again, feel free to dress as God leads you to.

Wednesday evening is the most casual service of the week, with many coming early to enjoy fellowship over the Wednesday night meal. Many dress casually because they will be leading the children’s classes that meet on Wednesday evening.

Parking

Ample parking is provided on all sides of the church building with additional parking located directly across Double S Rd. from the main entrance. A covered drop-off area for inclement weather and handicapped access is available at the main entrance to the Faith Building on the New Union Rd. side of the church.

Sunday School

Ushers will be stationed at the main entrances to the church on Sunday morning. They will be happy to assist you in finding the appropriate class for you and/or your children to attend. Sunday school classes begin at 9:45 on Sunday morning and end at 10:30.

Worship Service

Ushers are present at the main entrances to the Sanctuary to assist you with finding a seat. They also have church bulletins with weekly news, announcements, and information about church events. The music at New Union includes congregational singing, choir specials, solos and instrumentals from the orchestra. We make every effort to diversify the song selection and we include both traditional hymns and contemporary praise and worship songs. Our service also includes a "Missionary Moment" in which our church learns about and prays for individual missionaries or mission organizations around the world.

The sermon begins with scripture reading and prayer, and is followed by a Spirit led message from our pastor, Brother Danny. The service concludes with an open invitation to come for salvation, prayer, or church membership. Sunday morning service typically lasts about one hour, but we do not set time limits on the Holy Spirit.
